Now that the shooting for Ayan has been wrapped up and the movie is all set to release, the actor Suriya has moved to his next venture Aadhavan.
Aadhavan will have the direction of K S Ravikumar, and will have Nayan, after her Pongal release Villu. The first shoot for Adhavan included the fight sequence between Suriya and Anand Babu, who is the son of late veteran actor Nagesh, and will be making his onscreen appearance after a sabbatical. Kanal Kannan, who played the lead role in a movie, choreographed the action stunts. The second shooting schedule for the movie will be done at in Calcutta.

The attempt of Prabhu Solomon at developing a spooky thriller can be evident, but the all predictable screenplay and story of the movie is a let down for the audiences. The other bad patches of the movie includes the uninspiring dialogues and the girl who is in the movie just to flaunt her assets, these all takes the movie nowhere.
Laadam is about a young guy who gets trapped in a gang war and ends up in a life-threatening situation. The two gangs are behind each other and the life of that poor guy. The story of the movie revolves around how the guy save himself from the burly gangs behind him.
Entire movie is a kind of hide and seeks between the gangs and the guy. The first half of the movie takes your expectations to mountain heights, but post interval the predictable fare fizzles out it in the same way. The rest of the story tests your power of endurance.
The lead role played by Aravindan is the guy who gets trapped among the gangs. That’s all what can be said about him. Even the cute lovely Charmi gets annoying at times. The lovely actress meddles along with the flow of movie many of the occasions with her mono acting. Also as the character of Charmi is not developed well in the movie, the total meaning of her existence in the flick seems an excuse for skin show. You can say that none of the character in the movie has been developed as you expect them in a thriller.
The blue tint frames retains the feel of movie being a thriller. The scores by Tharan is not impressive either.
Verdict: Don’t regret if you miss this one!

Slumdog Millionaire has been in the news for a long period of time and with A. R Rahman and Resul Pookutty bagging the Oscars for it the hype increased furthermore.
People still are wondering why the Americans are so attracted towards the movie, when it has crossed $125 million in domestic region. Its interesting to know that the movie which was made on an budget of $15 million and for which producer didn’t got s distributor due to which he decided to release its DVD straightaway now has a total collection of $250 million worldwide which becomes an astounding Rs. 1250 crores.
Now that Slumdog millionaire has become quarter billionaire and still is on the top of the charts both in UK box office and US. Slumdog is inching closer to becoming the highest grossing movie for Fox searchlight worldwide and sooner will be the highest grossing movie in the US market after beating Juno which accumulated $140 million. It is expected that the rags to riches drama of Danny Boyle will cross the magical figure of $300 million by the end of its theatrical run.
Slumdog Millionaire will also become the highest grossing movie based on India beating Gandhi, which grossed close to $200 million worldwide. Monsoon wedding which made $31 million, Bend it like Bekham, which made a worldwide collection of $72 million, and Bride and Prejudice, with almost $25 million. One of the strong reasons of the success of the movie is also the hope, which it is instilling in the tough recession time. Though the thunderous music can also be one of the firm reasons of its success. Though the search is still on to find the appropriate reason for the astounding success of Slumdog, but as the famous saying goes “Audiences are unpredictable” the chances of finding the real reason seems pretty dull.

Selvaraj’s production for Meena Cine Combines, Killathe is the story of a girl who believes in crafting her own destiny. The director of the movie Mr. K. S Saravanan says that the bold unrelenting will, of the protagonist will influence a lot of women. K.S. Saravanan has also written the Story of the film, dialogues and screenplay.
The movie has debutant Rathiya, Nivetha and Nielson as the lead cats. The movie will also feature an assortment talented actor like Vadivukkarasi, Venniradai Murthy, Payilvan Ranganathan, Pandu, Sivanarayana Murthy and Subburaj.
Kapileshwar who is an NRI from Canada has scored the music for the movie, and hence the music is expected to have a nice blend of western and eastern style.
Director K.S. Saravanan believes that his movie will be inspiration for many of the women’s all around the world and will give them a huge boost in the self-confidence. The director also says that this venture will be one of the best Kollywood movies made for women. Director made it clear that his movie is not at all preachy. The director added that besides being women oriented movie Killathe would entertain the audiences.

This attempt of director Lakshmikanthan to remake the Bollywood hit Taxi No. 9211, is pretty much appreciable and the director has done a great work sticking to the original content and nicely mixing it with some elements so as to make it suited to Tamil audiences.
The Hindi venture featuring the deadly combination of handsome hunk John Abraham, and the talented Nana Patekar, was a hit in the Bollywood. The Tamil version for the same has brought a lot of strength and uniqueness with the characters of Pasupathy and Ajmal.
TN 07 AL 4777 is the movie about how the fate of two diametrically different characters from totally different spectrum of society comes together.
Pasupathy, Playing the Taxi driver, lives alongwith his son and wife Simran. He lies to his wife about his profession and tells her that he is an LIC agent. Ajmal plays the character of a spoiled brat whose father leaves him a property worth Rs. 500 crore to Venkataraman, who is his friend, not trusting on his profligate son. In the mean time Ajmal has a pre-written will of his father in his locker, and he files a complaints against Venkataraman in the court, saying that he has cheated his dad. To prove his point he has to present the will in the bank locker in front of the court.
On the decisive fateful day, Ajmal travels in Pasupathy’s cab and lures him for extra money to drive fast to help him reach the court fast, and force him to violate the traffic rules as well. Heeding to Ajmal’s pleas, the monetary bug Pasupathy drives fast results in an accident, which leads to the police intervention and street brawl. As a result Pasupathy has been taken to the local police station. During this whole chain of sequences Ajmal skips from the spot. But during his rush he leaves the key to his bank locker in the cab of Pasupathy, which proves to be a jackpot for Pasupathy and he uses it as a way to settle scores with Ajmal.
Now how the story progresses from here, whether Ajmal gets the property, and what happens to Pasupathy forms the rest of the plot for the story which is stated very linearly.
The movie has duration of two hours and moves pretty fast. Director Lakshmikanthan’s deft handling of the script surely is commendable. Pasupathy and Simran have essayed their roles very well understanding every bit of it. Ajmal, who has the right blend of looks and talent, is the key to watch in the movie. The scene in which he unites Pasupathy with his wife Simran is a fine example of his emoting skills. Pasupathy has proven his experience from the Koothu Pattarai, in the scene where he pleads Ajmal, to stop hitting him in front of his son. The emotional caper gets apt response from Ajmal as well. there is nothing to say about Ajmal’s girlfriend played by Meenakshi of Karuppusamy Kuthagaidarar.
Vijay Antony’s Music is just passable. The songs don’t go well with the movie and stands out separately. Though the remix song of Sorgam Maduvile is an eye sore. R.B. Gurudev’s Cinematography is absolutely upto the mark, and the editing done by Sasikumar is also satisfying.
Verdict: A Movie with unnecessary frills! Worth watching!

In all these events and felicitation ceremonies the two Oscar Statuettes are the constant companion of Rahman. Rahman can be seen with the two golden statues in every event and felicitation ceremony he attends. Also the organizers of every event want rahman to pose with the statues for the shutterbugs. In a recent event Rahman jocularly said that posing with the statuettes that weight around 3.85 KG, ensures that he soon will be getting a six pack abs like the Tamil actors.
